This thorny tree makes a great addition to hedgerows! A thicket of tightly planted trees can produce an impenetrable hedge.
The wood value of Osage orange is off the charts! It is one of the hardest woods. It is highly revered by woodworkers, and historically for bow-makers (an Osage bow used to go for the price of “one horse and one blanket”). The BTU value of the firewood is very very high.
